New Orleans celebrated its resilience with a series of block events throughout the city. These images were captured on Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard on August 29, 2015. Along with Mayor Mitch Landrieu, Central City residents showed cased the passion of being a New Orleanian.

K10 Day of Service
10 years have gone by and New Orleans’ beat goes on strong. K10 Citywide Day of Service allowed many new comers contribute to the city that has embraced a new future, and those affected by the tragic incidents of August 29, 2005 a day to appreciate their strength, perseverance, culture, and family values. Thank you to all the national and local organizations who organized more than 10,000 volunteers throughout the city and showed the world that New Orleans is alive and kicking.

This week, I am on an all fruit and veggie diet (first time ever) and all I can think of is beignets. I took this picture 2 weeks ago after a long walk though the French Quarter, so I deserved to enjoy these warm, fluffy, pillow-shapped donut topped with powder sugar… I cannot wait to go back to Cafe du Monde and devour an order or two!
